About

When we look back at the year 2020, we will all remember this as one of the most difficult years our community has had to endure. There has been a persistent march of challenges to deal with. Our NHS, finances, education, health and wellbeing have all taken body blows. Many of us have also suffered the heartache of separation from our friends and loved ones.

When the idea of Wonder Golf was first considered by Leisure & Learning and Observer Building owners White Rock Neighbourhood Ventures, it immediately struck us as a crazy, fun antidote to this most demanding of years. Leisure & Learning was founded in 2019 to create inclusive leisure, wellbeing and educational programming that bring the Observer Building and its neighbouring spaces to life. As such, we are delighted to offer Wonder Golf to the people of Hastings, in the hope that it will bring much-needed enjoyment over the Christmas and New Year period. It’s been heart-warming to see how our local creative partners have embraced the project. They have conjured up a truly magical experience that celebrates our much-loved festivals, with boundless imagination and can-do spirit.

It’s worth noting that this unique event also offers a last chance to visit the Observer Building before the builders move in to start extensive refurbishment work from January 2021. In 2022, the building will reopen as a new community hub with all kinds of work and leisure spaces to host our future programming.

In years to come, we hope you’ll look back with fond memories of our slightly bonkers response to the tough times of Covid-19.

So make sure to join us and help us to celebrate all that is good and hopeful about the enduring, sparky Hastings spirit!

Wishing you all a ‘Wonder Golf’ Christmas and better times ahead for Hastings in 2021.
